BIOGRAPHY

The Tornados® featuring 1960s Tornados organist Dave Watts were signed to the infamous independent record producer Joe Meek at his home recording studio at 304 Holloway Road Islington. Dave joined the Tornados in 1964 recording and touring for Joe Meek, during 1965 Meek sacked all the personnel with the exception of Dave Watts, thus creating a brand new lineup and briefly calling themselves the New Tornados.

 

Winter of 1966 Dave Watts and Joe Meek, under pressure from the infamous Kray twins decided to book a series of concerts abroad, February the 3rd Joe Meek shot dead his landlady Violet Shenton and then himself.

 

Today Dave Watts employs some of the best UK musicians to carry the legend forward and creating a beat stomping show that does not disappoint.

Dave Watts still on organ, Dave also performed with Billy Fury, Marty Wilde, Cliff Richard, Geno Washington and Sandie Shaw. In 1969 Dave Watts joined the Israeli band the Lions Of Judah, they traveled to England where they performed in London nightclubs. They signed with Polydor Records and recorded a single, “Our Love’s a Growing Thing.” 

Shuan Corrigan on guitar from the sixties hit makers the Symbols ( the best part of breaking up ) and the Rebounds, the Rebounds backed American singer Johnny Burnette on his one and only UK tour.

Tristan Long on drums who has performed with acts such as Midge Ure, Deacon Blue, Iron Maiden, Nicko McBrain, 999, Helloween, Gareth Gates, the Buzzcocks and the Foundations to name a few.

 

Pat Winn, lead vocals & acoustic guitar, Inspired by a recent trip to Tennessee and performing with the Dempseys who appeared in the Johnny Cash bio Walk the Line, a track Pat had written and recorded, Memphis, was played on BBC Radio 2 by Johnny Walker on his drive time show. He returned to Tennessee in 2015 for a series of gigs in Nashville and performed and recorded with one time Cricket, and writer of 60’s smash Ever Lasting Love, Buzz Cason.

In 2018 Pat was signed to Western Star Records and has just released his third album. The label has a strong association with Joe Meek, and The Holloway Echoes were formed after the sad death of Chas Hodges, who had recorded for Western Star. Only planned as a one off, the band have just finished their fifth album Triumphs and Tragedies, all Joe Meek inspired compositions.

The worldwide number one record TELSTAR performed by the classic 1962 lineup is still a huge selling record in these modern times, the Tornados today do not only play the famous instrumentals but also perform hits by the stars that the Tornados  backed during the sixties, Billy Fury, John Leyton, Heinz as well as 3 part close harmonies and old time rock n roll hits. Complete with authentic equipment and optional video reels bring the likes of Billy Fury back into your venue.
